Gastaldi

Gastaldi is immediately identifiable as an artist who immerses himself in the process of painting, fully focused and involved, in a constant state of creative motion. Visitors to his studio will often find him working on two or three paintings at the same time. He moves easily from one to another, first with visual critique, and then adding the broad strokes, planes of color, and detail touches that characterize his work. Somehow, the artist manages to maintain an intense, completely resolute concentration while gracefully assuring his visitors that they are not intruding. The artist creates evocative landscapes with rich, saturated colors. His depictions of land, sky and water make a clear statement about the power and majesty of nature. Gastaldi’s multi-layered abstractions add sense of energetic motion and lyric complexity to the mix. A sense of thoughtful composition is evident throughout his work, and the finished paintings often seem much larger than their actual physical dimensions. Gastaldi’s work has been lauded by internationally recognized art critics such as Edward Lucie-Smith, who is the author of more than 100 books on art. The artist lives and works in Southern California.
